How will stock shares I inherited be distributed ( shares or cash ) that's being probated?
The estate consists of about $ 50,000 CD, $ 155,000 condo and over $ 500,000 in stock. The stock has decreased $ 250,000 to $300,000 since relatives death. This will be divided among several people of which I will receive about 3.5%. Who decides if the stock will be distributed as shares or sold for cash to be distributed. Is it better to get stock or cash? Does all property have to be converted to cash before distribution or can it be done in stages after all debts are settled. The next step is declaration of heir hearing. Our relative ped July of 2007, any thoughts how much longer this will go on?
