When he says he doesn't want to try to make things work out...?

...is he plainly trying to say he doesn't love me that much? the problem is communication/compatibility - i shut off from him completely and it happens often. I've often felt that he is the person i've felt best with and trusted most since a friend i had when i was little, yet i find that the way he is willing to give up so easily (i find) on us clearly shows he doesn't value what we have that much. I have a huge problem of shyness, getting petrified, lack of confidence and i often act indifferent as a result but i feel that if he really cared he could see past that, believe i'm worth it beyond that and see the good times that are may be few but amazing i think...i guess my question is he willing to give up because he doesn't care enough?
