I will argue in my paper that while the scriptures of the bible focused on a spiritual quest of immortality, and the Tao Te Ching promoted the ideals of eternal life in the physical realm, achieving immortality in both, was still based on an individual’s self-righteousness, humility and a belief in a higher divinity.
