OMG it is complicated! I was in the same situation not so long ago and i didn't know what to do. If Jake really likes you then surely ed will realize that and even though it might be a little bit awkward if you did go out with jake, in time ed would understand. Even if it doesn't work out and you end up in an awkward situation with them both, at least you've given it a try.
